Simple Steps To Save the Earth

Below is a list of personal actions and habits that can help conserve energy, water, and the environment. This list was assembled by the girls of 8154 in partial fulfillment of the Eco-Action Interest Project.

When you shop, buy in bulk to reduce packaging.

Check to see if containers for products you buy are recyclable.

Run appliances, such as washers, dryers, and dishwashers, during off-peak hours.

Use drinking cups rather than disposable paper cups.

Bring your own bags to the grocery store.

Reuse plastic grocery bags to line wastebaskets.

Take shorter showers. Turn off the water when you are shaving your legs.

Let your hair dry naturally rather than using a blow-dryer.

Compost your grass cuttings, leaves, plant clippings, and fruit peels for rich garden soil.

Turn off the water when you brush your teeth.
