Girl Scout Troop 50
Hi from Brownie Troop #50. We are a third grade Brownie Troop located in Tigard, Oregon. We have 8 girls in our troop. Our names are: Angela, Ashlen, Caitlin, Katie P., Katie W., Kira, Jenna, Jessica  and Sarah. Our leader's names are Donna and Ann. This is our third year together and we always have lots of fun.  Over the years our troop has visited OMSI and toured a submarine, saw the Giants of the Gobi (a dinosaur display at OMSI), made memory necklaces and attended a number of council and neighborhood sponsored events. Some of these have been collecting food at the Cans Film Festival.  Local theaters let patrons in to watch a movie if they bring 3 cans of food per person.  We attended a neighborhood wide Birthday Party for Girl Scouts last March.   We have earned many Try-Its such as Plants, Animals, Caring and Sharing, Working it Out and Listening to Her Story.

Besides participating in the Cans Film Festival, some other service projects we have done are making Thanksgiving placemats for a local restaurant that provides free Thanksgiving dinners to those that have no where else to go.  We made bags and filled them with items such as shampoo and soap and turned them into our Council.  They took them downtown and gave them to the homeless at their annual Breakfast for the Homeless on Christmas morning.  Soon we will be preparing a meal and delivering it to our local homeless shelter.

We have adopted a Mascot, a seal named Slippy.  Last year she traveled to Massachusetts and Alabama. This year her travels will  really be exciting. She starts out in Sydney, Australia and then returns to travel all over the United States.  It sounds like she is having a great time.  If your troop would like to host her next year (1998-1999)  please email us.

We have also had the privilege of hosting some mascots this year.  They always get to participate in our troop meetings and activities.  We think they have as much fun as we do.  We enjoy learning about different areas and what different troops do for fun.

We have started working on our requirements for Bridging.  We have chosen the Outdoor Fun badge to earn as part of those requirements.  We know we will have a lot of fun and learn many new things while earning this badge.  We are looking forward to Bridging.

We would love to hear from other troops and learn about your activities so send us an email and tell us what you are up to.
