Our neighborhood was formed in 1994, when Northern Oakland Girl Scout Council dissolved. It was a tough transition, but our networking is in place and membership is up 30% this year. We have 33 troops, including 354 girls and 217 adults, making 571 registered West Bloomfield Girl Scouts. WOW!!!

Just about every month we hold a neighborhood event and our Thinking Day Celebration, on February 28 was a huge success. 25 troops attended, presenting displays of their chosen country, including food bites, photos, information, costumes and swaps.

Lauren P., a first grader in Troop 653 won our patch contest. Her design had four hands, each a different color, reaching out to the sun. Very insightful, for one so young.

Second grade Brownie Troop 2749 won first place in the costume contest, with their togas and ivy headpieces. Second place went to first grade Brownie Troop 2751, representing Scotland, in their cute little tartan skirts and plaids.

There was a tie for third place between Daisy Troop 484, decked out in Spain's costume, complete with black lace mantilla and second grade Brownie Troop 825, sporting vests with handsewn kangaroos and koala bears appliquéd on them for Australia.

Our MMM judged all the wonderful costumes everyone had and it was a very difficult decision.
