| Honest and Fair
| The girls learned about honesty and fairness in
their everyday games and activities. They have learned to use Popsicle sticks,
laces, Do It/Did It bags and other methods to choose fairly and equitably.
| Friendly and Helpful
| The troop has learned of local military families in need of support and friendship.
We have befriended the Navy wives who are new to the area and far from their
extended families. We also sent a “care package” to the sailors in the Arabian Sea.
We sent handmade thank you cards and patriotic bookmarks, along with
paperback books and home baked goodies.

| Considerate and Caring
| As requested by President Bush, the girls in the troop generously
gave their own money in support of America’s Fund for Afghan Children.
| Courageous and Strong
| The girls practiced being courageous and independent on a "pretend trip to camp".
They chose camp names, introduced themselves to their new friends, decided what
new activities and skills they’d like try while at "camp", took turns as the
game leader at around the "campfire" and tried a new food - somemores!

| Responsible for What I Say and Do
| The girls talked about words that can make other people feel good and words or tone
of voice that can hurt someone's feelings. Then they did a little exercise to
show how words can leave a permanent mark. The girls drew a picture then crumpled
into a ball. When they tried to smooth out the paper, they realized that they couldn't make
it "good as new" because the marks couldn't be completely removed – just as the
impact of our words leave a permanent impression.

| Respect Myself and Others
| The girls had a visit from "The Princess" and had a tea party to learn about
everyday good manners, proper table etiquette and how our polite behavior shows
respect for others.
| Respect Authority
| The girls visited
Fire Station 40
in Rancho Penasquitos. They brought Girl Scout cookies
and thank you notes for the fire fighters, had a tour of our local fire station,
reviewed 9-1-1 and fire safety procedures and learned about respecting the authority
of our local police and fire fighters.
| Use Resources Wisely
| The girls learned about recycling, preventing
pollution, natural preservation and leaving a place better than they found
it. They used recycled materials to make time capsules that will be
returned to them at the end of the year as they bridge to Brownies.
It will be fun to see how much they’ve changed over the course of the year.
| Make the World a Better Place
| The girls participated in the "Trees for Life" campaign by planting a tree at Hiltop Park
as a living memorial to those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
| Be a Sister to Every Girl Scout
| The girls learned that there Girl Scouts and Girl Guides all around world.
Each girl had a chance to be paired with a big sister Junior Girl Scout
as we worked to decorate a wreath for the
San Diego Wild Animal Park’s
Festival of Lights
holiday celebration.
