Activities for '97-'98

This year started out all wet with our 3rd Annual Pool Party. We had a great time getting back together with our old friends and making new ones. Our plans for the year are taking shape. The eight girls in our troop that are in their last year of juniors went on a trip to Camp Barnes in Bethany, Delaware. They were invited by the Cadettes & Seniors of our community to do the High Adventure Interest Project from their level to give them a taste of older GS camp life. It is run by the State Police and the girls worked with climbing equipment in a obstacle coarse 30 feet in the air. Some flew on the Flying Squirrel and others took a stroll on the Cat Walk. We went to Ocean City, MD to play golf and spend some time on the boardwalk. It was very exciting.

Next we are going to a nature center named Days Cove near the Chesapeake Bay. We will be working on the Water Wonders badge with the rangers. We will be having a scientific evening in October doing MAD Science. We will be experimenting with dry ice, electricity, making slime, and have fun working with the scientists. In November we are going to go camping for a weekend. Somewhere in between all this we will be working on cars, planning our rededication, doing service projects, going skiing, get locked in at a mall, find out about Native American Indians, celebrate Thinking Day, go to an ethnic festival, discover Maryland, walk the Bay Bridge, have parties and maybe even learn a little bit about ourselves, too!

We are working on fund raisers to help pay for a trip to Juliette Gordon Low's home in Savannah, GA in June of '98. If you have any good ideas for fund raisers, please e-mail us at our address below.

Where We Are

Our neighborhood is located about 4 miles north of Baltimore City, near the Chesapeake Bay. We come from neighborhoods named Perry Hall, Kingsville and White Marsh. It is a great place to live. We have the Chesapeake Bay, the Atlantic Ocean, Washington DC and the Appalachian Mountains all within a short car trip from here. You can body surf in the waves in the summer and ski in the winter, do some fishing and visit Congress.

Girl Scouts of Central Maryland

We are members of Community 87 of the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland. Our council office is in Baltimore City. It is made up of troops from Harford, Baltimore, Howard and Anne Arundel counties and Baltimore City.

It is great hearing from sister in scouting from all over the world. We hope to here from you, too! If you would like to chat, please send us an email.
